HENDREAS VAALBOOI
My name is Hendreas Nicolaas Martinius Vaalbooi. I am 27 years old, have one child but I am not married. I was born in the year of 1982 on the 23rd of March in Upington, but I grew up in Rietfontein. My father is Petrus Vaalbooi and my Mother is Hanna Vaalbooi and we are eight children in the family. I was eight years old when I started drawing. As a child I did not care much about being a Bushman, but now I am very proud of my people. I left school at grade 10 and went back to my parents and the land that the government gave back to us.
Our land was taken away from us and my father told me that in 1963, when he was 14 or 16 years old, he walked on the land with his Uncle Jan Pietersen. His Uncle told him that this land belongs to the Bushmen and told my father that my father would be sent out overseas to many countries to tell all the people about our land that we lost and that we will get the land back. Everything that my Uncle predicted became true, my father was sent overseas by David Kruiper, leader of the Khomani San and we got the land back.
Since I can remember I want to become an Artist and now maybe my dream will come true. Now I am at !Khwa ttu and learn about Tour Guiding and many things about my people, the San. But still I do drawings when I have got spare time. Now I have also been given art classes and training by Artist Martin Erasmus and the nice thing about this is that I can now do my own Art and drawings and the Rock Art Paintings that my fore fathers has done and I will be proud to give this Art over to my children and the generations of tomorrow.

The Artist
PATRICK JAMES CHIKWITI
I was born on the 2nd of November 1988 in Harare the capital city of Zimbabwe. At the age of 11 my Father passed away and my hard working mother raised me. I started sketching and painting at the tender age of 7 and I know it is a natural talent received from God, since no one taught me art / painting on a professional level. At the age of 17 my art improved when I started sketching and painting more regularly and I now paint landscapes, birds and animals using any medium, mostly oils.
Currently I work in the Strand, Western Cape of South Africa as a Lifeguard and I am studying Human Resources Management through UNISA. I only market my art on this website and hope and trust that God will lead and guide me in my daily life and in my art.
